Scrutiny Committee Grateful for Responses

THE Scrutiny Committee has thanked everyone who took part in the public hearing into the proposed shake-up of milk sales in the Island.

Alderney Representative Richard Cox, who chaired the public hearings, said he was grateful to Commerce & Employment, the Guernsey Milk Retailers Association, the Guernsey Farmers’ Association, and the Royal Guernsey Agricultural & Horticultural Society for their co-operation with the review.

The Scrutiny Panel that conducted the two day hearing expects to have its report ready for the committee early next year, following which its findings will be made public.

Alderney Representative (Mr) Cox thanked the panel for all their hard work, both in the run up to and during the hearing.

He also thanked the public for their input, which had been invaluable to the panel members in preparing for the review.

In addition to Mr Cox as Chair, the panel comprised Scrutiny chairman Deputy Jean Pritchard and committee member Deputy Ron Le Moignan, as well as former Institute of Directors chairman Andrew Ozanne and Dudley Jehan, chairman of Guernsey Post.

The public hearing will reconvene on Tuesday 29 November when Commerce and Employment Minister Deputy Stuart Falla will give further evidence to the panel.  This will also be at the Peninsula Hotel, and will start at 6pm.
