In March 2005, the Fiscal & Economic Policy Steering Group issued a Consultation Document as a first stage in establishing “a strategy to safeguard the future economic well being of the Island.”

The Policy Council is extremely grateful to all those individuals, businesses and organisations that responded.

A second Consultation Document will be issued by the end of September 2005 with requests for responses by mid-November.

Once the second consultation process has been completed proposals will be put before the States of Deliberation.  In view of the importance of this topic it is intended that a special States meeting will be held.

It is therefore intended that a special States meeting will be held, starting on Wednesday 8 February 2006
