Guernsey, as a small island, is fortunate in having a wide range of arts activity. There are a large number of arts organisations, which stage a huge variety of productions. These range from choral workshops to jazz and classical concerts and much more besides. The Island also has strong drama groups and many people take part in many craft forms.

A considerable number of groups arrange for professional performers and artists to visit the Island. Many of these visiting artists stage their performances at the principal venues for performing arts at St James and the Beau Sejour Leisure Centre.

The Culture and Leisure Department maintain a budget to assist local groups arrange events and bring in professional performers.

The Department has recently appointed an Arts Development Officer who will be responsible for preparing a strategy or blue print for the Arts in Guernsey.
